SUMMARY:Free Family Fun Day: Carnival! Long Live J'ouvert
DESCRIPTION:Join us the second Saturday of each month from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (activities available until 4:00 p.m.) for a fun-filled afternoon of free things to do\, learn\, and experience with the whole family! Spend the afternoon exploring the history and culture of our vibrant city. \n\n\n\nBring the whole family for a joyful Family Fun Day: Caribbean Carnival & J’ouvert celebration! Explore the history of J’ouvert—“opening of the day\,” the pre-dawn emancipation tradition from Trinidad and Tobago—through vibrant cultural discovery tables\, live steel pan music and rhythm sessions\, and a chance to try out a VR J’ouvert band experience. Roll up your sleeves in a bandana-painting workshop\, take part in Auntie Rubie’s carnival workshops\, and don’t miss the screening of the Miami Carnival documentary. All HistoryMiami exhibits will be open\, plus highlights tours of family favorites\, and our community gallery Long Live J’ouvert will be on view (ends October 12). \n\n\n\nFamily Fun Day programming is subject to change without notice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration required for FREE admission.
